Each count as the company gave it. The line joins the counts; it does not show what happened between them. Tap the chart to see who gave a count. Every product has its own scale, because they count different things.
  • ChatGPT has 1.2 billion users a week, 12 times as many as in November 2023.
  • Google's biggest AI audience is inside Search. AI Overviews has more than 2.5 billion users a month and AI Mode more than 1 billion. The Gemini app reached one billion on 28 October.
  • Some counts are old. Meta and Microsoft last gave one in October 2025, and Perplexity's chief executive in June 2025. Anthropic has never given one for Claude.
  • They count different things, so they cannot be ranked against each other. OpenAI counts people a week, Amazon a year, and the others a month.

What it means for a brand

  • Many people meet AI answers inside products they already use: Google Search, Meta's apps, Amazon's store.
  • A count says how many people use an assistant, not how many ask about your market. For that, look at the questions your buyers ask and what each assistant answers. How each assistant finds and credits websites.
How we collected these numbers

We took only what each company has said itself: its own posts, its results calls and its filings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Where a company's page refused our reader (openai.com), we checked the number in a news report that links to it, and we link to both. We left out estimates by app trackers and research panels: they count people differently, and most of them are paid.

Each count keeps the company's own words: "more than" or "about" where it said so. A count is dated on the day it was given, unless the company named the end of a period, such as a filing "as of 31 March" or a whole year. We found no outside check of any of these counts. Checked on 29 Oct 2026.
